A Li-MnO₂ battery (lithium manganese dioxide) is a primary (non-rechargeable) lithium battery using a lithium metal anode and a manganese dioxide cathode.Each cell delivers a nominal 3.0 volts (about 3V) – roughly double an alkaline cell – and holds that voltage almost flat through discharge.
Li-MnO2 cells come in cylindrical and coin/button formats. For example, a Li-MnO2 cylindrical AA cell (CR14505) powers industrial sensors, and a Li-MnO2 coin cell (CR2032) provides backup power for real-time clocks.
This chemistry yields a flat discharge curve and very long shelf life, making Li-MnO₂ the basis of many 3v lithium battery designs. As a non-rechargeable lithium battery chemistry, it’s valued for stable voltage and safety.

Li-MnO₂ Battery Types
Long Sing offers Li-MnO₂ cells in all standard form factors demanded by engineers:
1. Li-MnO₂ Cylindrical Batteries: Standard 3V cells in CR sizes. For example, our CR123A cell (16×34.5 mm) is 3.0V with ~1.5 Ah capacity (supporting ~3.5 A pulses), and a CR14505 (AA, 14×50.5 mm) is ~2.0–2.4 Ah (≈2.5 A pulse).
These Li-MnO₂ cylindrical cells are often called industrial CR batteries and have flat tops with built-in PTC safety fuses. They are rated to operate from –40°C up to +60–70°C. High-capacity “bobbin” versions of CR14505, CR18505, etc. are also available. 2. Li-MnO₂ Coin/Button Cells: All are 3.0V; e.g. a CR2032 (20×3.2 mm) is 220–235 mAh. These lithium manganese dioxide batteries provide low-current power (watches, calculators, key fobs) and small sensors.
They have extremely low self-discharge (<1%/yr) and can supply small bursts of current (a CR2032 can deliver several mA in short pulses). In fact, CR coin cells often serve as an IoT sensor battery 3V or RFID tag battery, powering remote IoT trackers and embedded electronics. 3. Li-MnO₂ Batteries with Tabs, Pins, Wires and Connectors: To simplify OEM assembly, we offer Li-MnO₂ cells with custom terminations. Options include solder tabs, PCB pins, axial leads, wire leads, and connector housings.
For example, we can furnish CR123A or CR14505 cells with factory-welded nickel solder tabs or crimped leads, or provide coin cells on solderable strips. These ready-to-mount cells allow engineers to solder or snap batteries into circuit boards and modules. (Any custom Li-MnO₂ battery pack design can include these terminations for ease of use.)
4. Custom Li-MnO₂ Battery Packs: Long Sing also designs multi-cell packs using Li-MnO₂ cells. We can assemble cells in series and parallel to meet your voltage and capacity needs (e.g. 6V, 9V, 12V packs for alarms or meters). Packs are built with precision soldering and insulated in heat-shrink or custom housings.
For example, a 6V Li-MnO₂ pack might use four CR123A cells in series; we would join them with nickel tabs, bundle and shrink-wrap the string, then attach the desired connector and wire assembly. All pack assemblies are tested (voltage/current) to meet your specifications.

How to Choose the Right 3V Primary Lithium Battery for Your Device
Select your cell chemistry based on load profile. If your device draws occasional high-current pulses (wireless transmitters, pumps), Li-MnO₂ (3.0V) cells excel as a high pulse current 3V battery. If it is an ultra-low-drain application needing maximum energy (e.g. meters in extreme cold), Li-SOCl₂ (3.6V) cells may be better.
